Why structured classification matters
A CFC or eCCC-Bât code written only in an object name may be readable to a person but remains fragile for filtering, checking and export. Structured classification supports reproducible quality control.
What is checked
- Presence of the expected classification source and code.
- Consistency between similar objects.
- Location of classification data in IFC.
- Documented one-to-many mappings where relevant.
- Compatibility with the intended cost, handover or reporting use.
Use-oriented precision
The appropriate classification depth depends on the intended use. The goal is not to add the maximum number of codes but to maintain the level that project teams and owners will actually use.
